Sapphire Gas Solutions has acquired EDGE LNG from affiliates of Blue Water Energy, adding approximately 200,000 gal/day of LNG liquefaction capacity to its distributed natural gas operations.
Texas-based EDGE provides LNG liquefaction, delivery and vaporization services using modular and mobile equipment. Its liquefaction assets currently serve customers across the southern U.S., expanding Sapphire’s ability to manage LNG supply from production through delivery.
EDGE’s skid-mounted modular plants can be rapidly deployed and scaled based on customer requirements, including in areas where traditional natural gas infrastructure is limited or unavailable.
“This acquisition progresses Sapphire’s strategy to be a fully integrated LNG supplier for our customers,” said Sam Thigpen, CEO of Sapphire Gas Solutions. “By controlling the supply chain from production through delivery, we can provide true vertical integration and a more complete, unified service.”
Sapphire said the acquisition gives the company production assets in two strategic regions that can be connected directly with its existing LNG distribution capabilities.
The transaction follows Sapphire’s recently announced strategic partnership with infrastructure-focused private equity firm Antin Infrastructure Partners. Financial terms of the EDGE acquisition were not disclosed.
